The meaning of travelling

The snow mountain in the picture above is located in Mei Li Mountain Range in Yunnan Province in southwest China, also known as the edge of the great Tibetan Area.Snow mountain is more than a beautiful view spot because it is symbolic to Tibetan peole and they regard it as sacred mountain because it is in the relatively high altitude so that few people can come across the mountains. What’s more,it has tremendous rare herb that can be used in medicine to cure people from disease. What I want to say is,when you are travelling, stop by,see the mountain, worship, like a pilgrim’s heart,in that, the meaning of travelling is that the great scenery is in the way we come by,not what we thought the destination.

This is another mountain in the same mountain range that I have come in Yunnan. After 10 kilometers hike,we came across the mountain and the mountain above appeared in front of us.We were, definitely tired physically, but when we saw the mountain,we got to be satisfied and delightful cause it was worth it.Sometimes we will find that the meaning of travelling lies not in how many great places we have been, but in how much spirit power we get from your tour.Maybe it takes some time and energy, but the spiritual layer of our mind can be changed, even oursight of value would be changed if I've seen what is there after a tough tour. This is the Yellow River in Qinghai Province, where is adjacent to its origin.Who can imagine that the so called Yellow River is the color of green? In fact,at the beginning of the most rivers originating from snow mountains, the color is clear. If you do not pass by the beautiful place or you go to your destination directly by air,you will see nothing which is,to some extend, the most cherishable scenery of your traval. Also, the color of the Yellow River has many other aspects. In Shanxi Province in winter,it appears blue and in another place in Shanxi it is white because it is frozen at all.And the most common color, yellow. But you will never know and get the feeling of the powerful river until you go by yourself.

Campare and contrast outline

Thesis Statement: Chinese parents and American parents have different ways in raising their children.

Topic 1: Chinese parents protect their children inordinately from any frustration while American parents regard frustration as essence in one’s growth.
Support: 1. when kids are playing in a playground
Chinese parents: keep their eyes on their children at any time; yell to their children not to…not to…
American parents: never care if their children are in a dangerous situation. Even if they fall down, the parents will just stand their looking at them with smile. If their children do not get up, they will encourage them just in words. If their children get up bravely without tears, they will praise their children’s braveness and adamancy.
2. When their children have conflicts with others
Chinese parents: will do everything to vindicate their children, even when that is their children’s fault.
American parents:will figure out the case rationally, and if it is their children’s fault, they will educate their children with correct concept. Even sometimes they will ignore the whole thing and let them deal with the case alone.

Topic 2: Chinese parents regard grades of their children as important as their lives, which is opposite to American parents’ opinion that children should pay more attention on afterschool activities.
Support: Chinese parents think the best and the only way for their children to achieve a better life when they grow up is to have a high grade on academic study.
American parents:the achievement in one’s scholar level cannot stand for everything about a student, because what makes sense is their comprehensive quality and personal manners.

Topic 3: Chinese parents like to arrange everything for their children; however, American parents think independence is an important characteristic of their children.
Support: Chinese parents decide which school their children should attend, what kind of clothes they should wear, even what kind of person they should marry to.
American parents kick their children out when they are 18, and just give them a little sum of money to survive and to finish college study. So, most students in America have part-time job and apply student loan.
American parents would like to foster their children’s sense of life and world. When they are young and encourage them to participate in family affairs.

Cause and Effect Journal

As a college student, I have two extravagant wishes: getting straight A+ and sleeping for full eight hours one day. Maybe after some extremely hard work, I can achieve the first goal, but the second one is like a "mission impossible". But actually, going to bed late at night has negative effect on my college academic study.

Going to bed late at night makes me feel not refreshed next morning. First, when I fall asleep at night, my brain is in a statue of rearranging information I have received during the daytime. Lack of sleep may make information my mind chaotic, which is a reason why usually after a sleepless night, I feel drowsy the next morning. Not only my brain is having a rest during sleep time, but also my other organs are doing some renovating things, as we call it, the metastasis work. Not sleep on time may slow down the rate of our metabolism, and "dirty" in my body has not been cleaned out in time. As a result, I may feel really tired like I never taken a sleep at all. And at last, if I sleep late at night, I am always worried about if I can get up on time the next morning or how to fall asleep a little easier. That takes me much more time to fall asleep and makes me have more dreams while i am sleeping. It is sound to have dreams at during sleep because it means I am in a deep sleep, but too many dreams may make my nerves intense all night. As a consequence, I feel numb in the morening.

A drowsy head leads a low efficiency in class. This reminds my own experience. After a five-hour sleep, I showed up in my economic class. I was lying in my chair with my almost exploded head and aching shoulders. As an ESL student, I have already had a lot of trouble to understand my professor's lecture. On that day, I just knew that she is talking, but I cannot catch up her with even a single sentence! I struggled whether I should take a nap or not to refresh myself a little, but ache all over my body even stopped me from closing my eyes. I tried to read my text book, but I just cannot concentrate on it. What was worse? I felt the same way all day, and missed all knowledge I should learn that day.

As a result, I had to put more effort on the materials we covered that day, because I do not want to fall behind of my other classmates. Consequently, I have to work until deep in night again, but because of my exhaustion, I will choose to sleep other than finish my study. As a consequence in a long term, I will definitely fall behind my classmates.

In conclusion, It is a bad idea to go to bed late at night, because it has a negative effect on my academic study.
